Alpine Velo is a cycling training app. To coach you, it needs your training data — and nothing else. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and who else touches it. Alpine Velo is operated by Alpine Bikes LLC ("we", "us").
What we collect
Account information. Your email address, so you can sign in. Sign-in is passwordless — we send a one-time code and never store a password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email address that service provides. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Training data. The rides you choose to sync, and everything in them: duration, distance, power, heart rate, cadence, elevation, speed, and lap or segment breakdowns. This is the core of the product — it is what the coach reads.
Route and location data. Rides recorded outdoors typically include GPS coordinates. Alpine Velo never asks your phone for its location and does not track you in the background. Location reaches us only inside the ride files your connected service sends us.
Your conversations with the coach. The messages you write, and the coach's replies. These are stored so your coach remembers context between sessions.
Profile and goals. What you tell us during onboarding and afterwards — FTP, weight if you provide it, riding archetype, goals, and event dates.
App usage. Which screens you open and which actions you take, tied to your account. We use this to understand which parts of the app work and which don't. It is not shared with advertisers and is not used to build a profile of you outside Alpine Velo.
Push notification token. If you enable notifications, a device token so we can deliver your daily briefing and ride analyses.
What we don't collect
- No advertising identifiers (no IDFA). Alpine Velo shows no ads.
- No tracking of your activity in other companies' apps or websites.
- No background or continuous location.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
- No payment card details — we don't process payments in the app.
How we use it
- To analyze your rides and calculate training load, fitness, and fatigue.
- To let the coach answer your questions with your real history in front of it.
- To build and adapt your training plan.
- To send the notifications you've turned on.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising.
Connected services
Alpine Velo can connect to Strava, Wahoo, and Hammerhead to import your rides. You choose whether to connect, and which to connect. We request only the access needed to read your activities.
You can disconnect any service at any time in the app, which revokes our access and stops further imports. Rides already imported stay in your Alpine Velo account until you delete them or delete your account.
Who else processes your data
We use a small number of service providers. They process data on our instructions, for the purposes below, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Anthropic — powers the AI coach. Your messages, along with relevant training summaries, are sent to Anthropic's API to generate replies.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and backend hosting.
- Voyage AI — generates the numerical representations of ride summaries that let the coach retrieve relevant history.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
About the AI coach
Coach responses are generated by a large language model and may include information retrieved from the web. They can be wrong. Alpine Velo provides training guidance, not medical advice — talk to a doctor before starting or changing an exercise programme, and stop if something hurts.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your rides, conversations, plans, and profile from our systems. Routine backups may retain copies for a short period before they age out.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. This is permanent and takes effect immediately — there is no waiting period and no need to email us first. If you'd rather we did it for you, write to support@alpinevelo.ai.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, email support@alpinevelo.ai and we'll respond within 30 days.
We are based in the United States, and your data is processed there. If you are using Alpine Velo from elsewhere, you are consenting to that transfer.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to it is restricted to your own account through database-level access rules. No system is perfectly secure, but your training data is not something we treat casually.
Children
Alpine Velo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the app.
